My Pressing Need, CK
MY PRESSING NEED
“And of His fulness have all we received, and grace for grace” (Jn. 1:16).
This need, Lord, I've encountered
Is pressing hard on me;
Oft' I wonder where to turn;
I have no one but Thee!
Remind me I have Thee, Lord;
Thy promises I know.
Thy love cannot be measured;
To trust--I've been so slow!
Why would I fail to trust Thee
When there is none beside?
Lord, where are those who love me,
Now when I'm at low tide?
O, Lord, I've failed so often
To wholly trust in Thee;
How gracious is Thy welcome
To prove Thy grace so free.
In spite of all my failure,
I find Thy heart the same;
How could I e'er have doubted
Thy welcome without blame?
Thou art my Lord and Savior,
Now be my daily Guide;
And help me, Lord to never
Turn back in sinful pride.
Thy yoke I'd take upon me,
Thou art my faithful Friend;
Never wilt Thou forsake me--
Ah, who can comprehend!
Mercy and goodness follow
My path from day to day;
Blessings now and eternal;
By grace I'll trust alway.
